The French take pride that they savour the good things in life, and that also goes for the way alcohol is consumed by them. For plenty of French residents, the best portion of this day is that the so-called “apéro”: the pre-dinner drinks which have become somewhat of a federal institution. Although studies suggest that the drink less than they used to, binge drinking has become a cause of concern.
